About the event
Aged only 14, Ellie Malonzo is already an accomplished violinist and composer. She has won 11 first prizes in international competitions. She has been invited to perform at winners recitals overseas, including in the USA, Vienna and Canada, and was featured in the London International Music Competition Online Concert Series. She was awarded a special mention in the esteemed Leonid Kogan International Competition for Young Violinists, and was interviewed on ABC Classic. She made her soloist debut with FCO under the baton of conductor John Keene in 2022 with standing ovation. He said: "I find myself realising every now and then that I am working with someone so young whose maturity, technical skill, and superb ear and musical sensibility belies her years as both performer and composer."
In this performance, Ellie presents her new composition, a Concerto for Violin and Viola teaming up with her teacher Paul Wright. She is also the soloist in Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto 2, a romantic masterpiece. With John Keene conducting and Dvorak’s Notturno and Bruch’s Adagio from his Octet, this is another FCO offering not to be missed.
